Given that author Anna Ginsberg has a popular blog called cookie Madness, she seems well qualified to me to have written The Daily Cookie, where she takes on the task of providing cookie lovers with a particularly delicious cookie recipe for each and every day of the year. She encourages us to not wait for a special occasion to make a sweet batch of cookie treats, but instead uses baking as a means to celebrate every day, taking into account that almost every day of the year has been dubbed a “holiday” of some sort or another.

Alongside the recipe for each day of the year, there is also a description of what that day has been chosen to represent, for example, “Chocolate Cake Day” (I’d be happy to celebrate that one!) or if that date is not (yet) a “holiday”, then there is always an even in history (like Disneyland opening) that would be nice to be remembered, especially with a fresh batch of cookies! The cookies actually tie into the attendant day, for instance June 25 is Great American Backyard Campout Night and the cookie to go on with that is S’mores Bars. So, it’ set up so you can really celebrate each day/event with a related cookie.

Of course, my kids had to immediately check to see what everyone’s cookie is for their birthdays and if it synced up to their particular tastes. I not only thought The Daily Cookie was an interesting read because of the trivia, but I also found the cookies (and there is a photo of every single one), to be exactly the types of cookies I love, simple, yet delicious!

Awesome addition to any cookbook shelf but it won't sit on the shelf as you'll be baking every day!
