[Rewarded Review] AD based TV
BendSB· Îáçîð îò  bestbuy.com · 19 ôåâðàëÿ 2024 ã.
This is probably the worst TV I have purchased in the last 20 years. The TV can not be setup to be just an over the air (antenna) TV. You can not disable the ADs that are displayed when you turn on the TV. If you are an Amazon fan this might be right for you. You can not use this as a TV without an Amazon account. It appears the only way to prevent in app purchases is to turn on parental controls and require a pin for purchases. This then requires the PIN for changing a lot of settings. The TV guide is interspersed with Prime Video ads. It takes going through almost every setting to minimize the AD experience (but you can not eliminate it.) Alexa comes built into the remote. I found no options to disable or restrict it and it really wants you to use it. More screen clutter than I have ever seen. The initial antenna setup failed several times and required multiple factory resets before successfully completing scanning. It starts with finding 46 channels and not ever completing the scan even though it said 100% (needed factory reset), then not to being able to even select scanning (again factory resets) before finally being able completing the scan. All of this was after multiple updates and restarts were performed until it appeared to be up to date. Online help was really on from community based forums which was mostly do another factory reset and start over, disable as many of the notifications and privacy sharing settings as possible. One final factory reset has been done, the TV is packed and get returned tomorrow.
[Rewarded Review] Impressive 32" TV with Fire TV operating system.

Abosolutely happy with this TV. I bought 2 sets on sale, 1 for my guestroom & 1 for my office. The picture is great (very bright--I did lower the brightness & backlighting to about the middle of the setting). The Fire TV OS worked seemlessly with the built-in AirPlay & connected immediately to my iPhone to watch my cable tv service. I also have an over-the-air antenna & the tuner pulled in over 100 channels without any dropout or freezing. The sound is fine for a small space, would not use in a large den/living room. The Alexa voice-control has lots of commands. Initial set-up & updates take about 1/2 hour when you 1st turn on the TV, & I did have to login-in to my Amazon account to get the full services, but you can skip that if you wish. Love that you can add apps. Fire TV has an app called Silk--this is a web browswer you can use to look up anything, shop, get emails, etc... I know some internet reviews say Fire OS can be glitchy, but I suspect that has been resolved with these 2024 models. For an extra TV, it's a no brainer--buy. BTW--I have a friend who works for a large-chain furniture store & they use Insignia TVs in all the stores & display areas, so I assume they have a decent lifespan. Lastly, I did not like that everytime I turn on the TV it brings up the home screen. If you go to settings (display) you can set the TV to turn on to the last input you were watching when you turn off the set. You can download the apple fire TV app & it gives you the full remote on your iPhone or Apple tablet.
[Rewarded Review] Bought because I was ticked off

I bought this to replace a Vizio that had updated software and moved the antenna input into their glitchy and horrible "WatchFree" app. We have dish network and our receiver is a two tv setup still with the coax running to tv2. We are in the country and our internet is strictly from a jetpack, we use smart TV's for streaming but do not leave them hooked to the network all the time, only when we want to stream something. This was a problem for the Vizio, if the tv got turned off it would take over an hour to rerun the channel search and have our dish channel show up in the WatchFree app again. This ticked me off as this was our bedroom tv, we just wanted to watch the news and weather before bed and oftentimes couldn't. I love the insignia, it's simple. Turn on, little to load up, select live and my dish channels. Simple. No need for a glitchy app, no need for constant internet connection; we just hook it to our jetpack or phone hotspots when we want to stream a movie from netflix. The picture quality isn't quite as good as the Vizio, but to be expected as this is a low dollar tv. As our first fire tv I was more interested in the operation and simple ability to get my dish on it than I was the picture. Sound is better than the Vizio. Overall, very happy. I read numerous complaints online from people about the Vizio software update, it did tick off a lot of people. Mine went right in the garbage after the Insignia proved it's worth.
[Rewarded Review] Poor Service

I have been buying Best Buy's Insignia brand tvs for as long as they have carried them. But, this will be the last one that I buy. I bought this for our middle daughter's room. We specifically wanted the one that was offered on Amazon before Christmas but every time we tried to buy it through Amazon it kept rerouting me to go purchase it at the Menomonee Falls location. I did not want to make the trip as our schedule is very tight already with 3 kids and their sports and extracurricular activities. But, I made the trip because I have had good luck with the brand. When I went to the store, I asked the floor salesman whether it was the smart tv because we did not want to buy a roku or fire stick. And, he said yes. I said it does not say it on the box and he said again that it was the smart tv. I went to set it up and as I suspected it was not the smart tv. So, I drove the 40 minutes all the way back down to the Best Buy in Menomonee Falls and explained the situation to the sales man behind the counter. He said to pick the one out on the floor that I wanted. They did not have the 720p model that was on sale for Christmas. I was not given any discount for the inconvenience and was out over 2 n a half hours of driving, over an hour of installation and repackaging, and an additional $100 more than I wanted to spend.
